Relative importance of multimodal risk factors to discriminate memory trajectories: Similarities and differences across ethnoracial groups in cognitively normal older adults

چکیده
Background Inequalities in dementia incidence and heterogeneities observed on memory decline are present across ethnic/racial groups. Research suggests that inequities risk/protective factors contribute towards these differences. We examine risk multiple domains to identify those best discriminate differences trajectories ethnoracial Method used an ethnoracially diverse longitudinal cohort of cognitively normal older adults (n = 299; mean age 73.47 (6.90) years; 63.9% female) from the University California, Davis-Alzheimer’s Disease Center. First, we applied latent class growth analysis objectively classify into distinct groups a maximum 10 follow-ups. Second, random forest analyses (RFA) relative importance 22 seven (demographic, genetic, brain morphometry, plasma functional biomarkers, psychological lifestyle factors) low/high performers as stratified by three (African Americans [AA; n 111]; Hispanics [n 108], Whites 66]). Result four classes (low, intermediate, high, very high) represented (Figure 1). for our RFA analyses, collapsed low intermediate group 136; 40.4% AA, 25.6% Hispanics, 28.8% Whites), high performing 148; 34.6% 50% 15.4% Whites). High was predicted 2) AA lower smoking years, Functional Assessment Questionnaire (FAQ), younger age, higher education, neurofilament light (NfL), Apolipoprotein E non-carriers, neuropsychiatric inventory (NPI) severity, men, hippocampal volume (AUC 0.73); with FAQ, Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), smaller third ventricle, larger volume, NPI lateral NfL 0.86); Whites, alcohol use frequency, NfL, GDS, ventricles, white matter hyperintensities 0.82). Conclusion similarities predictors versus Identifying will promote integration multimodal develop novel complex profiles leading early detection identification asymptomatic or preclinical adults.

Cerebral Blood Flow and Amyloid-β Interact to Affect Memory Performance in Cognitively Normal Older Adults
Cerebral blood flow (CBF) alterations and amyloid-β (Aβ) accumulation have been independently linked to cognitive deficits in older adults at risk for dementia. Less is known about how CBF and Aβ may interact to affect cognition in cognitively normal older adults. Therefore, we examined potential statistical interactions between CBF and Aβ status in regions typically affected in Alzheimer's dis...
متن کاملExercise and Alzheimer's disease biomarkers in cognitively normal older adults.
OBJECTIVE In addition to the increasingly recognized role of physical exercise in maintaining cognition, exercise may influence Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology, as transgenic mouse studies show lowered levels of AD pathology in exercise groups. The objective of this study was to elucidate the association between exercise and AD pathology in humans using Pittsburgh compound-B (PIB), amyloid-b...
متن کاملRelative non-Normal Graphs of a Subgroup of Finite Groups
Let G be a finite group and H,K be two subgroups of G. We introduce the relative non-normal graph of K with respect to H , denoted by NH,K, which is a bipartite graph with vertex sets HHK and KNK(H) and two vertices x ∈ H HK and y ∈ K NK(H) are adjacent if xy / ∈ H, where HK =Tk∈K Hk and NK(H) = {k ∈ K : Hk = H}. We determined some numerical invariants and state that when this graph is planar or...
متن کاملAssessing pain in cognitively impaired older adults.
BACKGROUND Accurate assessments of pain help healthcare professionals to identify its source and manage it appropriately. Pain in cognitively impaired older adults is difficult to assess and this can result in poor management and outcomes. In response to the vulnerability of this patient group, researchers have produced a variety of tools for pain assessment in cognitively impaired older adults...
متن کاملThe Comparison of Gait Kinematics in Over-Weight and Normal-Weight People across Age Groups
Objective Obesity and overweight have changed to very important factors in people movements in the modern world. Therefore, the present study was carried out to examine the effects of overweight on gait kinematic factors in children, young adults, middle-aged, and older adults. Methods The present study was a causal-comparative study in which 40 participants aged 9-85 were selected based on pu...
